ODYSSEY

Odyssey is a collection of images of small sections of the surface of a concrete wall at Brighton marina. The wall is 1.5 metres high and 400 metres long, running alongside the entrance to an underground car park.

I approached the concrete wall with curiosity, drawn to its rugged surface and subtle intricacies. Through my lens, what initially seemed like a plain expanse transformed into a canvas of captivating details. Each crack and groove told a silent tale of time’s passage, etched into the weathered facade. Every imperfection invited me to explore deeper into the hidden world of this seemingly mundane structure.

Looked at close up, the textures, colours, shapes, rhythms and subtleties on its surface allude, among other things, to other worldly landscapes, dancing figures, animals, trees and mythic beings.

Through my photographs, I invite viewers to embark on a visual journey across the surface of the concrete wall, discovering the beauty that lies hidden in plain sight.
